Eye Sight problem in our Country. | Written by Danial Tanvir

Pakistan is one of the most populated countries in the world, and it is home to people from all walks of life. Unfortunately, there are many diseases and health disorders that affect our people, and today I would like to highlight one major issue: eyesight problems.

Eye health in Pakistan is on the decline, which is both alarming and sad. The number of people suffering from eyesight issues is increasing every day, and this situation is truly concerning.

This must stop, and we must help and support people with vision problems. Eye diseases are a very serious health matter because someone with cataracts, for example, can go blind and lose their eyesight completely.

Now, how can a person live if they lose their vision? Just think about it. Life without eyesight is extremely difficult, and this is an obvious reality.

There are countless people in Pakistan suffering from cataracts, especially among the poor. Sadly, they do not have the money for treatment, which is heartbreaking and something that must change.

Eye operations in Pakistan are very costly. For instance, my father recently had his cataract surgery, and it cost more than 200,000 rupees. This is an unimaginable amount for poor people who cannot even meet their basic needs.

The rich may be able to afford such treatment, but just imagine the misery and helplessness of the poor, who suffer simply because they cannot pay for surgery. In the end, it is the poor and vulnerable who lose their eyesight and sometimes even their lives.

This is a tragic state of affairs, and we as a nation must act. The sad reality is that the number of people with eye problems is increasing instead of decreasing, which should be a major cause for concern.

We must establish hospitals and NGOs that provide free eye treatment, especially cataract operations, for the poor who cannot even afford to eat, let alone undergo surgery.

I personally believe that treatment for eyesight problems should be free, because without vision there is no life. We must not allow innocent and vulnerable people in our country to go blind. Sadly, basic eye care is missing in Pakistan, which is unacceptable.

My father had to spend a large sum for his surgery, but I cannot stop thinking about what the poor must endure when they simply cannot afford it. This inequality is unjust.

The core problem is that while the wealthy can get treatment, the poor suffer in silence and lose their vision. We must not let this continue. Cataract operations are beyond the financial reach of ordinary people, and therefore it is our duty as a society to help them by providing free services. Doing so would also be a great service to humanity.

We must not fail our people or our country. Instead of allowing them to suffer and lose their eyesight—the most precious gift without which life becomes unbearable—we should take proper care of them and ensure that no one in Pakistan goes blind simply because of poverty.
